Announcements for May

Special thanks to the Frantics for their pink cake.
Mark your calendars comic jam lovers! May marks a very busy month for comic-related stuff. This past weekend was the fantastic Ottawa Comiccon which saw Ottawa Jammers out in full force, selling their beautiful artwork and taking commissions.  It was wonderful seeing Ronn Sutton & Janet Hetherington's work, Amy Van Torre, Susan Shore and Matt and Anne Erkhart at the con, as well as past jammers Tom Fowler and Dominic Chénier (of Mirror Comics.) Jammers Colleen Temple and Scott MacLellan took the journey last weekend to enjoy TCAF (the Toronto Comic Arts Festival), which unfortunately was scheduled on the same days as the con.

Drawing with Fire! March 26th 2013 JAM artwork

"Farewell. Though you burn, I shall endure."
Hola Comrades!

Sorry for the delay uploading the HOT HOT HOT artwork: I was a victim of crushing deadlines, malaise and general panic. In other words, the usual!

The March Jam was a good one, well-attended and enthusiastic. Gérard Bélec, the instigator of the 'Burning Cat' couldn't attend in person, but mailed his artwork to me so that he could be a part of the jam anyway. Thank you Gérard! You win Jammer-of-the-Year award, not only for consistently suggesting great themes and challenges, but always going above and beyond the call of duty to make the Jam a success.

Thanks to ALL the Jammers who came out for our delayed HOT HOT HOT event, and a special thanks to Andrew Stutt who braved the blizzard in February to try and get to the jam I had to cancel, pretty much at the last minute. Andrew's work is always a lot of fun and he scans and uploads it immediately (I need to take a page from his book, obviously!)

Anyway enough babbling! The March participants who made our jam 'catch fire' were: Suzanne Marsden, Clayton Jacobs, Scott MacLellan, Westin Church, Andrew Stutt, Suze Shore, Amy VanTorre, Liz Walsh, James Rule, Marisol Eggleton, Sasha Lapointe Lawless and Gérard Bélec. Thanks to the supportive and encouraging staff at the Shanghai Restaurant who continue to provide a wonderful creative space for the Ottawa Comic Jam group and take care of us during our events.

Cheers, and on to the artwork...

Suzanne.

The Ottawa Comic Jam would also like to thank our sponsors: DragonHead Studio and Brain Power Studio for the their continued financial support.
